Blogger’s Bio

I believe that multiple personalities and the diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a cultural artifact and generated by pop-psychology. It is a phenomenon that is proven to be born out of the relationship between therapist and client and, in some cases, is known to be harmful to patients. For additional information on my opinions and publications, please read this blog.

I believe that most professionals who work in the mental health care field are caring people who offer helpful services for their clients.

Although I was not abused during childhood I was, nevertheless, treated for over six years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA for Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities) stemming from theories associated with repressed memory therapy allegedly due to severe childhood sexual abuse. My attending physician during that time held a medical degree (doctor of psychiatry) and was considered an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple personalities, renamed Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID and a long-term member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).

I hold a psychology degree; am not a psychotherapist; never have been.
